Golpistas Hunker Down

Roberto Micheletti ordered his de facto government to cut costs for the remainder of the year by 60 percent. Exceptions include the military, and a few special education and health programs. The de facto government also decided to sell bonds on 400 million lempiras in construction projects. In a press conference, Rafael Pineda Ponce noted that more than 20 million lempiras are being set aside to pay the miltary for their current deployment and to support their role in the upcoming elections, including food, lodging, and transportation for the reservists who will be guarding the election boxes.
